Russian Invasion of Ukraine Forges New Unity for NATO

BRUSSELS—NATO ambassadors collected Thursday early morning for an unexpected emergency conference in reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with a pledge to defend alliance members and guidance Ukraine, which is not a member.

Russia’s assault on Ukraine, which since 2008 has experienced an invitation to perhaps be part of the alliance, has breathed new everyday living into the North Atlantic Treaty Group, the U.S.-led army alliance developed in the ashes of Earth War II to square off with Moscow.
